Pastor's Pen
We hosted the State Ladies Retreat last week
and our ladies really stepped up and did a
fantastic job as hosts. We had an army of
women working for several days to prepare for
the meeting and that served our guests during
the 2 day meeting. The speakers: Angela Rasnic,
Ariel White, Eva Kasinger & Chris Ennis did a
great job. The music was wonderful and the
meals were greatly appreciated. We had 75 of
our ladies signed up to attend. I am so proud of
our ladies and their selfless labor for the Lord.
Thank you, ladies, for a job very well done.

May is going to be a busy month. We have
special events scheduled for each Sunday in
May. On the first Sunday, May 7, we have a Baby
Shower for the Turners, who just had a baby boy
recently.
May 14th is Motherʼs Day. We will honor all
the moms in attendance in the morning service.
We will have a drawing to present gifts to the
ones selected.
May 21st is Graduates Day. We will recognize
our high school and college graduates.
On May 28th, we will have our annual Memorial
Day Church Picnic after the morning
services. We did this last year with great success.
We had 293 attend the morning services and
most stayed for the picnic afterwards. We will
share more info on this in days to come.
Come be a part of these events.
From The Youth Pastor
May is here again. We are almost
halfway through this year and it seems like
we just started. May seems to be
jam-packed with activities and obligations,
thatʼs really nothing new, It always has
been. Itʼs the beginning of summer, the time
when all moms become home-schoolers
and pray for unlimited sunshine. This was
usually when my mom started the rule that
once you went outside, you had to stay
outside until it was time to eat or you were
bleeding severely. My mom had a
profound impact on my life growing up
and she still does. She wasnʼt perfect, but
she was godly, and she modeled that for
me & my sister, foster children, and for
multiple neighborhood kids.
Being a mother is the most important
job that any woman can do, and she
knew that. We heard her pray, we saw
her read the bible. She trusted God to
provide our needs. She is generous,
sometimes to her own detriment. She is
obedient to God. She is forgiving (she
would have to be with a son like me). She
is persistent, she never gave up on us, she
never stops praying. She is a servant, she
is always the last one to sit down at a
family meal and the first one to get up
when someone needs something. She
keeps her house in order, always cleaning
and making sure things are in order.
She is an encourager, even if itʼs just a
too-long hug. The most important of all, is
that she loves unconditionally. These
arenʼt just the things that describe my
mom, they are the attributes of a godly
mother. Iʼm thankful that God blessed me
with a godly mother that took her job
seriously and I pray that we will have
more mothers that will focus on godliness
and not just having a successful career.
