Thoughts from Pastor Scott

Speaking with a Wesleyan Voice

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you're getting the chance to enjoy the celebration of Christmas, not just on the 25th, but as we continue through the 12 days of Christmas.

This Sunday is New Years Day and, when we gather at 10am for worship, we will be starting off a new series in which we will look at how we interpret and communicate the timeless truths of Scripture through our Methodist/Wesleyan lens. "Speaking with a Wesleyan Voice" will try to answer the questions, "What makes us Methodists?" and "What does Methodism have to say to our world in 2023?"

As we start this new series, we will participate in a special service developed by John Wesley called "The Covenant Renewal Service." In this service we will recommit ourselves to following Jesus together in the coming year. This will be an interactive service with songs, prayers, and liturgy, and it will culminate in celebrating Holy Communion together. There is a key prayer in this service that we will pray together and I wanted to give you a chance to look at it ahead of time and reflect on what we are covenanting together to do as a church body. Here's the prayer:

I am not my own.

I am Yours alone.

Make me into what You will.

Rank me with those You will.

Put me to use for You.

Put me to suffering for You.

Let me be employed for You.

Let me be laid aside for You.

Let me be lifted high for You.

Let me be brought low for You.

Let me be full or let me be empty.

Let me have all things or let me have nothing.

With a willing heart, I freely give everything to Your pleasure and disposal. Amen.

My prayer is that this is a prayer we can join in together with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Grace & Peace,

-Pastor Scott

P.S. Worship only at 10am this Sunday. Normal schedule with Sunday school, 2 services, and coffee time will resume on January 8th.

College Students traveling to Atlanta

During the first week of January, five of our college kids will be traveling to Atlanta for a conference with thousands of other college kids. We ask that you keep them all in your prayers. Pray not only for safe travels, but also that God would speak to them during this time and re-ignite a passion in their relationships with Him. If you would like to help offset the cost for our college students, please contact Pastor Jeremy.

Informational Meeting - Mission Team

Mexico Mission Trip

This summer, our church is taking a mission team to La Pamilla, Mexico. Pastor Jeremy has had a long-term connection with this village and has helped lead teams down to build the Sanctuary at the local Methodist church.

We will hold an informational meeting after the 10:30am service on Sunday, January 15, to talk about the details of the trip, provide a tentative timeline, and discuss the team expectations. If you are interested in joining this team for a ~ 10-day trip at the end of July/early August, please join us; attendance at the meeting is not a commitment to go on the trip. No construction skills needed.
