1. Noah a Good Man in a Bad Situation
โBut Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.โ - Genesis 6:8
Centuries later, the writer of Hebrews would highlight Noahโs character: โBy faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faithโ Hebrews 7:1
2. Joseph an Earthly Father with a Divine Calling
โAnd her husband Joseph, since he was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly.โ Matt 1:19 NASB
โข He Obeyed the Voice of God
โAll this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: โBehold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuelโ (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.โ Matthew 1:22โ25
And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt. Matt 2:13โ14
โข He was a Righteous Man
โJoseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned [to send her away secretlyโ Matt 1:19 NASB
โข He loved Jesus.
Mary says: โSon, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you in great distressโ Matt. 1:48
3. Jethro a Bold Father-in-Law Who Gave Wise Counsel
โWhat you are doing is not good. You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.โ Exodus 18:17โ18
โSo, Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.โ v. 24
