Sunday, October 16th
The older I get; I find that the people driving behind me become more impatient. Yesterday I was driving on a ramp exiting from 127 south onto 496 westbound. Immediately a guy in an SUV was driving upon my bumper, flashing his lights as if he wanted to pass my car on the single-lane ramp. Even though I was keeping an appropriate speed and entered 496 at highway speed, he continued to flash his lights and make faces and hand gestures.
I decided to exercise the Fruit of the Spirit: peace, patience, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I was not upset with the man. As soon as possible I got on the highway and let him charge past me to his urgent destination. I hope he is ok.
I think people can notice when we are bearing the fruit of the Spirit (and when we’re not.) The Apostle Paul simply reminds us, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25.) The great thing about the Fruit of the Spirit is that it is not something we have to strive to do, in fact we cannot produce the fruit. It comes as a natural result of allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our lives as we submit to our Lord Jesus.
In what ways do you see the Spirit’s fruit at work in your life and those around you?
October is Pastor Appreciation Month!
Please join us for lunch in the fellowship hall tomorrow, Sunday, October 16th following the morning service to appreciate Pastor Rich and Brenda for loving on us as our pastor and friend. Bring a card or letter of appreciation for them and pray about putting something green or a gift card inside. And always, always, keep them in your prayers! Lunch is being provided.
Spiritual Gifts Inventory
The Holy Spirit gifts each believer with at least one spiritual gift to be used for the good of the Body of Christ. We are most effective and fulfilled when we work within our giftedness.
You are encouraged to take a simple gifts inventory to identify your gifts and put them to work.
Click the image above to take the test online or paper copies are available in the foyer at church.

Crisis Care Kits are a way we can help others in emergency situations. Receiving simple items like toothpaste, a comb, or band-aids become very helpful in a natural disaster, war or other crisis. Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) are designed to provide people with some of the essentials they may not have due to those scenarios.
Most of the current stock of CCKs stored in the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries warehouses is already committed, and they need our help to provide more. Check out the Facebook page of Fawn Grove Compassion Center to see the warehouse the kits go to.
Our NMI Council has set a goal for Grand Ledge to collect 12 boxes (72 CCK's) by July 2023. Each month or so, we will feature an item to collect. (Although you can always give any of the items at any time!)
See below for this month's featured item and the details on the specifics. Thank you for helping us work toward reaching our goal!
October Featured Item:
October = Toothpaste (4.0 - 6.4oz)
We will be collecting these at the Missions corner in the foyer. Here is an idea of how many we will need by July 2023:
1 per CCK
6 per box
72 for all 12 boxes
Other ways to help:
- Pick up banana boxes (can get free from most grocery stores) we will need at least 12 before July 2023
- Pray for those who will be receiving these kits
