    1. Flattery

    A. Flattery is Wrong Because it is Lying

    Proverbs 26:28 NASB95
    28 A lying tongue hates those it crushes, And a flattering mouth works ruin.

    B. Flattery is Wrong Because it is Temporary

    Proverbs 28:23 NASB95
    23 He who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor Than he who flatters with the tongue.
    “A true friend stabs you in the face, not in the back.”

    C. Flattery is Wrong Because It Is Deceptive

    Proverbs 29:5 NASB95
    5 A man who flatters his neighbor Is spreading a net for his steps.
    Watch out! If someone is flattering you, then you know that they are trying to get something from you.

    2. Slander and Gossip

    Proverbs 10:18 NASB95
    18 He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.
    slander=evil report/rumor
    Hatred together with slander. This is a dangerous combination. It is a tell tale sign of a person who does not fear God.
    Proverbs 11:12–13 NASB95
    12 He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a man of understanding keeps silent. 13 He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter.
    Talebearer=informer, one who attempts to destroy someones character by slander

    This is product of slander. It destroys friendships. If you value your friends, don’t talk about them behind their backs.

    Gossip is greedily devoured and remembered for a long time. Some people have lies told about them and never outlive their false reputation
