Connection Cards: Our Church family wants to welcome you to our service today. Finding the right place to worship God each week can be overwhelming. We’re a group of imperfect, Jesus- loving followers from all sorts of backgrounds and past experiences. Our prayer for you is that you feel welcome no matter where you are in your life. May your time today result in a spiritual renewal and a better understanding of how much God loves you!
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project: Please see bulletin insert for items needed this month.

Memory Verse for August
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, not things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

HOPE IN THE FACE OF DEATH
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Losing a loved one is probably one of life’s most difficult experiences. The death of a loved one reminds us of our own mortality.
In our text today God tells us about those who have passed away.
WE SHOULD NOT GRIEVE LIKE THOSE WHO HAVE NO HOPE
Read vv. 13-14….
Learn what God wants you to know
● John 11:35; Acts 8:2; John 14:6
Think of death for the Christian as simply falling asleep (v.13)
● 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23
Understand the implications of Christ’s death and resurrection. (V.14)
WE SHOULD FIND HOPE FROM WHAT GOD HAS TOLD US ABOUT THE FUTURE
Read vv. 15-17…
The living will not precede those who have fallen asleep (v.15)
The 4 R’s at Christ’s return (vv. 16-17)
● Christ will return
● The dead in Christ will rise first
● Believers who are still alive will be raptured
● We will all be reunited in the Lord’s presence
WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER WITH THESE WORDS
Read v. 18…
