Timeout! Are you healthy?
In basketball the coach will call a timeout if he thinks the team needs to make some adjustments. If you missed the sermon tonight you can listen to it here. But before we get back into the book of Acts I thought it was a good time for a timeout. I know I needed it!
We want to work and be successful. We want to do a good job and be fruitful with our life. But we can't forget that God brings the fruit and God will never work us to exhaustion. He brings rest. He fills us, he doesn't drain us. Are you running on fumes and headed for burnout?
We learn from John 15:1-11 that Healthy is abiding-based, not success-based. Our work is to abide in Jesus, his work to bring the fruit.
We learn from Matthew 11:28-30 that Healthy is grace-paced, not work-paced. God brings the rest but we have to come to him.
So what's your plan to spend time with God? We need rhythms for this kind of thing. Some time each day, more time once each week, a longer time once a month or quarterly. Make a plan. Work it out with your spouse or a friend if you need help. Make it happen.
