Awesome first week!
Our first week of something new
I was super encouraged by this past Sunday. We had some minor hiccups but overall I thought it went great. Thank you to everyone and your patience and flexibility and your desire to devote yourself to one another. The start will be hard for a little while as we figure things out but overall I am very encouraged.
Class: Leading others in discipleship
As I mentioned this past Sunday, we are starting a leadership class on June 15. It will run for nine weeks every Saturday from 7-8:30am. Everyone is invited but I ask that anyone who wants to participate to be really committed to it like a class. It will include some easy homework. It will also include food!
Please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) to register.
Prep for Sunday: Traditions vs. Commands for Church
In preparation for Sunday be sure to read Mark 7:1-13. I want us to think about things we do in church that might be traditions vs. clear commands from scripture. What are things we do today in church culture that are traditions? What are things that are clear commands in scripture for the church?
- Is tradition bad? Why or why not?
- Why was Jesus's response to the Pharisees and scribes so strong? Seems like cleanliness is a really good idea, right?
- What are some scriptural commands given to the church? (Email me any think of and I'll share them with everyone later in the week)
- Start applying those commands to yourself. How can you personally follow and be obedient to those commands?
You are loved!
