Many religious doctrines have been and are being taught in the world. These many doctrines are taught because those who teach them wish for others to learn, accept and live by those doctrines. But why should one man accept the religious doctrine which is taught by another man?

Jesus said, “… and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). The apostle Peter said, “Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth …”

      (1 Peter 1:22). However...

It is a false view of the truth to hold that the truth is unattainable.

There are those in the world and in the church today who would have us accept the view that we can only seek the truth. They hold that we cannot, in fact, really find it. Jesus gave the plain and simple answer to this falsehood when He said, “… ye shall know the truth.…”(John 8:32). That settles the matter with any person who really does believe the Bible! But it is not at all unusual these days to hear a “preacher” argue along this line: “You surely do not claim to know everything! You surely do not claim to be infallible! Since you are not infallible, how can you claim to be absolutely certain about anything? When people differ, how can anyone ever be certain that he has the truth?”

All persons of accountable age should be striving, with all of their power, to learn the truth about God and His sacred word. This means that every accountable person should study the Bible in order to “prove and hold fast that which is good”

(1 Thess 5:21). Merely having a great zeal for religion is not enough for salvation. One must be zealous in devoted study of the Bible and in obedience to what the Bible teaches. Zeal without truth will not save one’s soul.

"Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge" (Romans 10:1–2).
