The Character of a Champion

Changing Your Mind Will Change Your Outcome

The Character of a Champion

Abraham Lankford

“Imitate me as I also imitate Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1

·     If you are ever going to change, you need to follow someone who can take you where you couldn’t go without them.

·     You will never change by hanging around those who aren’t willing to change their character.

Mark 2:22 New Living Translation (NLT)

22 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.”

·     If you are going to change, you must first change your mind.

Romans 12:1-2 New Living Translation (NLT)

12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Say this, “It’s time to change my mind!”

·     You desire to change when you become dissatisfied.

·     Dissatisfaction produces hunger in your heart.

What type of mindset needs to be replaced:

·     Bad Attitude (“I don’t care!”)

·     Excuses (Blaming others)

·     Comparison

·     Quit (“I can’t!)

·     Proud (“I’ll do this myself!” “I know better!” -King Saul)

Proverbs 16:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

18 Pride goes before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.

·     Rebellious attitude (1 Samuel 15:23)

·     Self-centeredness (“It’s all about me!”)

Application:

We must repent of every attitude that is wrong to God! Repent means to change one’s mind. The way you live is determined by what you think. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” –Proverbs 23:7 Self-pity and self-centeredness will paralyze you from reaching your destiny. Humble yourself! Submit to leaders who can lead you to reach your highest potential. Stop fearing failure! Get up and face your giants! Speak victory over every obstacle in your way! You are “more than a conqueror, through Christ!
