Experienced Marketing and Creative Copywriter

Position Summary

We're looking for a seasoned Copywriter to join our team of two writers, traffic coordinator/junior copywriter, and editor. We take a strategic approach to copywriting and want to hire a highly competent writer to do the work. We support a cohesive team, working together to create the copy that is needed. You will be our our short-form creative writer, handling projects such as emails, promotional campaigns, web narratives, etc.

  • Understands business reasons for creative writing for measurable results
  • Demonstrates ownership of projects and isn’t afraid to make their voice heard
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Loves collaboration and seeks feedback early and often

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as copywriter and lead for specific lines of business or project areas as assigned
  • Understand the positioning of each brand; become the subject matter expert for assigned categories
  • Write short-form copy across multiple marketing channels, including display ads, blog posts, emails, landing pages, and other marketing collateral
  • Edit peer’s work, checking for effectiveness, grammar, spelling, and adherence to corporate voice
  • Write sequential email series in collaboration with email strategist and copy team lead
  • Review and approve copy as requested. Proofread final assets
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of creative copywriting or related experience with agency or in-house
  • Experience with short-form marketing and sales copy
  • Online portfolio of work demonstrating a range of experience and creativity, leaning heavily on short-form, creative copy
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and Google suite
  • Experience following brand guides
  • Critical thinker and communicator who works well with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to present copy best practices and defend messaging choices
  • Proven ability to adapt writing to various consumer audiences and product categories
  • Strong copyediting and proofreading skills
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple deliverables and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Advertising or marketing background

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the faith market preferred
  • Experience with project tracking programs
  • Experience writing for consumer technology

Location:

Bellingham, WA. (In office preferred. Remote possible.)
