Keppel Anglican News
In Philippians 4:6-7, the Apostle Paul encourages with these words, “Do not be anxious about anything…” We go through trials, but so does the whole world. We are people who long for a future, and so does the world. So, how exactly are we different?
The difference is who we are. We came to God as sinners seeking forgiveness. And we gave our holy God our lives. So now, we no longer come to him as the world does; we come to him as his holy children. Sometimes naughty children, sometimes arrogant… but always as his precious children. As God’s children, when we are in need, he will care for us. What good Father would not provide for his children when they are in need?
So you and I no longer need to be anxious about anything, for we have a Father who waits for us to ask. True peace and everlasting peace now belong to us. Why? Because of that moment we accepted Jesus as our king, when we repented of our old ways and turned away from them. He didn’t love us because we were good, and not because we were perfect. Far from it. We came to him as a mess (Romans 5:8-9), and it was God who cleaned us up and called us his children.
We are blessed, although we don’t deserve it. We are holy, although we don’t always feel it. But we have nothing to be anxious about. For God has dealt with our yesterday, our today, our tomorrow, and even our eternity, because we are his holy children.
This week we continue looking at 1 Peter as Revd John Stanley encourages us with the Apostle Peter’s words on holiness. Peter wrote this letter to encourage the Christian church who was in the grip of great difficulty. God has made us his holy people! And calls us to be holy as he is holy so the world will know we belong to a holy God.
Grace and Peace.

Pray with Us
Prayer of the Day
whose Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life:
give us grace to love one another,
to follow in the way of his commandments,
and to share his risen life;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer of the Week
Saving God, who called your Church to witness that you were in Christ reconciling the world to yourself: help us so to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may be reconciled to you; through him who died for us and rose again and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We are: calling people on the phone, doing stuff online, watching church on TV, watching Bible Story clips on the church website, watching Colin Buchanan in our church services, sending letters to old people in the church and receiving letters back from them.
When we are back in our church building again we are looking forward to: Kids Church and Sunday School, Communion, singing, playing with the other kids at church, morning tea, seeing the old people back at church, particularly the ones we wrote letters to. They make it fun.
