Dr. Kyle Roberts is Associate Professor of Public and Missional Theology at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Prior to taking this post in 2014, Dr. Roberts served for nine years as Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Bethel University.
Dr. Roberts is a Kierkegaard scholar, having published numerous essays on Kierkegaard and modern theology. He has published in Kierkegaard Research: Sources, Reception and Resources, and has contributed to other collected volumes on Pietism and Karl Barth. His research interests, apart from Kierkegaard, include the place of Christian eschatology in popular culture and the question of divine providence in the problem of evil and suffering.
Following publication of his first book, Emerging Prophet: Kierkegaard and the Postmodern People of God (Cascade, 2013), Dr. Roberts is currently working, as coauthor, on a theological commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Eerdmans). Aside from writing and teaching on theology, philosophy, and culture, he speaks regularly on contemporary issues and their relation to Christian thought.
After earning his BA in Philosophy and Literature at Wheaton College and his MDiv at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kyle earned a PhD in Systematic Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2006.
