This coming Sunday in our Advent series, "Living Christmas Hope" we will discover truth number 3: "God's Word for me has the final answer"
In a day when so many are walking away from the foundational truths of God's word we see the bedrock example of Mary the mother of Jesus in Luke 1:26-55.
The Advent reminds us that God's word for us has the final answer. Mary's example will warm our hearts to come back to word.
God's Word for Mary was the final answer. God's Word brought her the revelation of amazing grace, the kindness of God to her lowly estate.
We discover that Mary has a vast knowledge of God's word and all the ancient promises from Genesis to Malachi.
In the end, hope in God's word leads Mary to the "Magnificat" song of Praise!
Mary is living Christmas hope!
Mary's Song
My soul doth magnify the Lord.
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
For he hath regarded: the lowliness of his handmaiden: For behold, from henceforth: all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath magnified me: and holy is his Name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him: throughout all generations.
He hath shewed strength with his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat: and hath exalted the humble and meek.
He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel:
As he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his seed for ever.
The Gloria Patri is appended to the canticle, but is not part of Luke's Gospel.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
