Lessons From Moses
  • Introduction

Moses sets an example to show all of us how to live in this doomed and dying world while looking for the soon return of Jesus Christ.
    Moses knew who he was.
    Moses knew whose he was.
Moses knew where he was going.
Moses was born during perilous times.
Ex. 1:16, 22 - Pharaoh decreed that every male child born to the Hebrew slaves was to be killed at birth.
But God had a special mission for Moses and would not let Satan kill him (Ex. 2:1-9).
In fact, God orchestrated his life to place him right where he needed to be to have the experiences he needed to prepare for his God-given mission in life (Ex. 2:10 - became Pharaoh’s daughter’s son).
    Hebrews 11:23–27 NLT
23 It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command. 24 It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward. 27 It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.
    Moses was a preacher’s kid (Ex. 2:1-2).
Moses’ parents had fearless faith that gave them courage to defy Pharaoh’s decree to kill the Hebrew males as they were born (Heb. 11:23).

    Moses Knew Who He Was

    Hebrews 11:24 NLT
24 It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
Moses’ parents instilled in him a strong self-identity as a child of God, a Hebrew, who happened to be enslaved, and the son of a preacher.
Moses learned to live in the world without becoming of the world...
    Romans 12:2 NLT
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Moses learned to live with the Egyptians without becoming conformed to the lifestyle of an Egyptian.
    Matthew 5:13 NLT
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
    Matthew 5:14 NLT
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

    Genesis 1:27 NLT
27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
    1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NLT
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
    Psalm 84:10 NLT
10 A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
    Isaiah 43:6–7 KJV 1900
6 I will say to the north, Give up; And to the south, Keep not back: Bring my sons from far, And my daughters from the ends of the earth; 7 Even every one that is called by my name: For I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
