Keeping Our Focus
God has been so good to Maineville Baptist Church and we are excited about the prospects for reaching people for Jesus Christ over the next few months. Church is all about two general focus points.
First and foremost is the glory of God. He deserves it all. It is our God that created all things, sustains all things, and provides all needs - even many of our “wants.” Though man has wronged God, as did every one of us through our own sin, He has also provided a way for us to be reconciled back to Him, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
The second thing we are to be focused on is completely connected to the first - to fulfill the Great Commission(Matthew 28:18-20). We are to be winning the lost to Christ; teaching them; and training them to follow God as well. Everything at Maineville Baptist Church is geared to do that. Those two things must remain the primary focuses of the church. Can we do other things, sure - but they must be connected with glorifying God and bringing people to Christ and a closer walk with Him.
- Thus, we have Sunday school, an informal time to draw closer to one another and learn from the Word of God in smaller classes.
- We have our 11 am Morning Service to glorify God through song and the preaching of His Word to challenge, inspire, exhort and at times to admonish the believer.
- We have lunch together at Noon on Sunday to break bread together and to get to know one another, fellowship and encourage others.
- Our Afternoon service at 1pm is to help grow and strengthen the believer through preaching and teaching that will strengthen our walk with Christ and effectiveness to reach this lost world.
- Our Wednesday night service is our church prayer time and Bible study where we go through the Word of God together.
All the children's ministries have the same intentions. Even when do not have a children's class, such as the Sunday afternoon service, it is so the young children can learn to sit in “big church” and the older children can receive the Word of God from their pastor as well.
Nerf wars - Tomorrow night at 6:30 to around 8 or 8:30 pm. Bring $2 to help cover the cost of pizza and pop. Also bring your nerf gun and safety glasses and come ready for battle. We have a couple of new competitions we will try out tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun.
Mother-Daughter Luncheon - Saturday, May 8th at 1pm.
May 9th is Mother's Day. All mothers in attendance will receive a special gift and a special lunch is being prepared by the men for everyone in attendance so our ladies can have a week off of preparation - especially Shannon who does the bulk of the work each week.
May 15th - We need volunteers to help Ms. Stephanie weed and plant flowers in our flower beds at the church at 10am.
May 16th, Evangelist John Neal will preach the 11am service for us. He is a Korean War Marine Veteran - and has been dropping by our church for years - we look forward to hearing the Word of God from him.
May 23rd, our missionaries to Ukraine, the Chris Rue family will be with us. They have been in the country of Ukraine for over 25 years and have not been at our church to report in about eight years so we are excited to receive this update.
May 30 will hope to have our afternoon service in in the pavilion for the first time this season and we plan to cook-up some hot dogs and sausages for lunch.
June 8-10 will be our Vacation Bible School each night at 6:30pm. If you would like to help please sign up on the volunteer list on the back bulletin board. We will cook a light meal and feed the children each night. We are also starting to collect prizes to give away. If you purchase a nice inexpensive toys, gadgets or trinkets to donate for our giveaways, please bring them to pastor's office or put them in the box behind the welcome center. You can also donate for the grand prizes if you would like.
June 18-19 will be a Men's retreat for the Friday night before Father's day. We will do some target shooting, camp out, have some lessons from God's Word, and spend the following morning fishing before we come back, so make sure you have your fishing license up-to-date.
Okay, my fingers are tired. We are praying for great services this Sunday, on Sunday morning I will preach a sermon entitled “The Need for Godly Mothers” and the title makes the subject obvious. Our nation, our community, our church needs more godly mothers who will influence a generation for Christ. During the afternoon service I will preach a message entitled “Keep Moving Forward.” It is not time to stop serving God, it is the time for everyone us to go forward for Christ, grow in our walks, and be more faithful to God as individuals, families, and as a church.
God bless you and thanks for taking time to read!
