From 17 December, the state government has announced that the unvaccinated will not be able to enter certain facilities and venues. These measures have not been applied to churches. If in the future such measures are applied to churches, I will recommend that we have a members forum and meeting to navigate the way forward.
In light of the December announcement, I have put together a statement that I hope guides us to a position of liberty of conscience on the matter, namely, not to judge each other for the choices we have made regarding vaccination, but to rather bear patiently with each other in love and service. This statement has been reviewed and approved by the elders for release to the congregation. Please read it here.
At the ministers fraternal I discussed the possibility of a carolling event on one of the days just before Christmas. Namely, we would commence at the Kmart centre, and make our way through town stopping and singing songs along the way until we arrive at the civic centre lawns. We would contact cafes beforehand asking if they would like us to come and sing out the front of their stores.
One other church has expressed interest in this idea. I have also spoken to the council who have said the only requirement is to let the police know of our activities. If you would like to be involved in this event, please fill in this form.
My family and I will be on holiday in Cairns from the 29 November to the 12 of December. If you have any pastoral issues during this time, I encourage you to speak to Gary or Ron.
Many others in our church family will be going on holidays over this period. I trust you have a wonderful time away.
YARD WORK VOLUNTEERS
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH THIS...
The grass and weeds will begin to grow around the church a lot fast in the warmer months. I have organised for a contractor to come in once a month for the next several months and will do so on the FOURTH WEEK of the month.
That means we will need some volunteers to come in on the SECOND week of the month to help with this job. Let me know if you can help, we have a mower onsite as well as a weed sprayer.
Emma and Hannah have volunteered for this task on the second week of December and Emma the first week of January.
We still have a lot of weeks that need to be filled over this period. Please let us know if you are able to assist.
Please chat with Tim if you are available to volunteer.
