A Note from Pastor Jerry and Debb!
Hello, NHCC Family!
Just WOW. The count of Operation Christmas Child boxes grew to 60 last Sunday! Thank you New Horizons Church for your generosity. Some boxes were completed by individuals and brought in. Other boxes were made possible by donations of dollars to purchase items for the boxes and bulk items that were purchased by others and brought to a packing party. Monies were given to help cover the $9 cost for shipping each box and to include a Gospel Booklet for the child who'll receive the gift.
I am impressed with the hearts of those who stepped up and gave to make this happen. This is a tough time for many to find the motivation to be involved, but what a blessing it is to give knowing the potential impact of one of these special boxes--not just for a moment of glee or happiness, but the possibility to change their eternity! The Gospel booklet will be presented by the Samaritan Purse distributors so the children will know the story and its meaning. They will be able to share it with their own families, too!
In Romans 10:17, it says that "faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the (Gospel) GOOD NEWS about Christ." I've read this so many times. Today, because of conversation with my D-group, I realized something new. We need faith to believe. Faith is given by God so that we can believe. BUT, the Lord has declared that it will be given when the Gospel of Jesus is spoken to the hearer! By giving OCC boxes, you and I get to speak the Gospel through Samaritan's Purse to their hearing ears.
Romans 10:14-15 says, "But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they havve never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, 'How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring GOOD NEWS!'"
They will have the opportunity to receive faith unto salvation becasue they were told. It's just that simple...and New Horizons (that's you and me) will continue to be a part of the telling of the Gospel of Jesus so that those who hear can have faith and believe!
Looking forward to worship to worshipping with all those who are in-person and online! Hope you've been preparing yourself to come in to His presence with rejoicing and in to His courts with praise!
Are you with me?
Blessings to you~
Pastor Jerry & Debb
P.S. - Operation Turkey Boxes for Northwest families will be assembled on Sunday, Nov. 22nd and distributed from NHCC on Monday, Nov. 23rd. If you'd like to donate items, please be sure to drop them off by the 22nd.
OPEN FOR WORSHIP IN-PERSON & ONLINE!
We want to assure you that we are remaining open for in-person worship, taking precautions and making sure the facility continues to be sanitized after our Sunday worship. We want to remind all who would attend of these important guidelines:
1. Attend ONLY if you are NOT experiencing signs of illness-
(i.e. - fever, persistent/active cough, unusual tiredness or fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle aches, chills, sore throat, runny nose, headache)
2. If you've been directly exposed to someone within the last 48 hrs who has tested Covid positive, have had a recent loss of taste, or just not sure you should be around others, please follow the CDC's guidelines for self-quarentining. You may not have it, but we'd rather you miss a Sunday than to cause someone else to become ill.
3. Minimize your risk by using hand sanitizer, being contientious of the space you give others and yourself, wear a mask, limit touching your eyes and nose, or simply stay at home. You can watch the Sunday message on FB Live by going to New Horizons Community Church's Facebook page.
We want to be sure to remind our church family to be diligent in their self-protection & others-protection. We want to encourage folks to spread out in our large worship area and know that you won't be crowded. If it is too uncomfortable or the risk is too high for you to be around others for worship who may not be wearing a face covering, we understand. We love you and want to see you stay healthy so we can see you again at New Horizons when this crazy season of life is done.
Have a great day of thanksgiving to the Lord for all He has done!
