    John 6:26–35 NASB 2020
26 Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate some of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.” 28 Therefore they said to Him, “What are we to do, so that we may accomplish the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” 30 So they said to Him, “What then are You doing as a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work are You performing? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.
    John 6:33 NASB 2020
33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
    John 6:35 NASB 2020
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.
Jesus is the Bread of God.
He is the Bread of Life.
This morning we partook of the Lord’s Supper together.
The first symbol we received while partaking was bread.
As I have said many times the bread speaks so eloquently of Jesus.
That it is unleavened (without yeast), tells us that Jesus is the sinless Bread of God.
    Matthew 16:5–6 NKJV
5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
He said in vs, 12 that the leaven of the P & S was their teaching or doctrine.
    Matthew 16:12 NKJV
12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Teaching the commands of men as if they were the doctrines of God (Mat 15:9)
In Luke 12:1 Jesus says that the leaven of the Pharisees is hypocrisy.
In Mark 8:15 Jesus not only warned against the leaven of the Pharisees, but also the leaven of Herod.
    You remember Herod, right?
He’s the one who had John the Baptists beheaded because John spoke against him marrying his sister-in-law.
    Herod was full of sin.
But the Bread of the Lord’s Supper reminds us that Jesus was without sin.
    Hebrews 4:14–15 NKJV
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
The bread of the Lord’s Supper also has stripes and holes which reminds us of:
    Isaiah 53:3–5 TLV
3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, One from whom people hide their faces. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our pains. Yet we esteemed Him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities. The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Jesus, as the Bread of God, was and is our sinless sacrifice for our salvation and our healing.
He is the Bread given by our heavenly Father.
Moses didn’t give the bread in the wilderness — God did.
In the same way salvation doesn’t come by keeping the Law of Moses but by and through God Himself.
But He is also our Bread of Life.
He says, “I am” which identifies Him as God.
The people asked, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
They were talking about some physical bread.
Jesus was offering them spiritual bread that leads to eternal life.
    Tonight let’s seek Jesus:
The Bread that comes down from heaven — that comes from where the Father abides.
The Bread of life that gives eternal life.
Let’s feed on Him tonight so that we will not try to satisfy ourselves with the pea pods or husks meant for pigs.
Cry out tonight for the Bread of God. The Bread of Life.
