Name Priority
Barnabas is mentioned first in 13:7 but here, Paul is mentioned, and his companions, not even mentioning Barnabas by name.
Acts 13:13The New International Version
From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem.
- Verse 5 says John Mark went with them.
- Following the episode with the proconsul on Cyprus, Paul became the leader of the group. Previously, it was either a joint effort with Paul and Barnabas or perhaps Barnabas had been in charge. This may throw some light on John Mark's departure. Remember he was cousin to Barnabas.
