      Where do you turn when things seem hopeless? Jesus is on the cross. He's been beaten, embarrassed, mocked, and abandoned. His friends are no where to be found, instead he is surrounded by his enemies. This verses reminds us that Jesus knows what it is like to feel abandoned. He knows how it feels when it seems like God has abandoned you. This is why Jesus is a better high priest. Anything you experience, he has experienced and can meet you in that place of hurt and loneliness. So today, if life feels like its too much, cry to the Savior who understands.         Do you think you know better than God? Peter was an expert fisherman. His father had groomed him to take over thr family business. He lived and breathed fishing. So when told them to try again, his hesitancy is to be expected. But if he had let his skepticism stand in the way, he would not have experienced Jesus's blessing and provision. He would have missed the kind of God experience people spend their whole life waiting for. Are you letting life experience interfere with God's leading in your life? Are you letting 'conventional' wisdom get in the way of Jesus's calling?                 No one escapes difficult seasons in life. Daniel's prophecy is about the end times, when the "abomination that cause desolation" comes. He will draw many to his side through flattery, but those who are faithful to God will not be deceived. In this time, it will be the wise who help people understand. Understand the times, understand the deceptions, understand life. But the wise will experience persecution and pressure to fold. Daniel says that the persecution will be so intense that people will avoid helping them, and that even the wise will fall. James tells us that God gives wisdom freely to anyone who asks for it.                   It doesn't say, "some..." Believe it or not, this actually comes from Leviticus. Even Moses understood that if we don't love God with everything we are, those other things we let in will work to distract us. Need evidence? Look at the people of Israel. They tolerated idol worship, they set their hearts on the things of this world, and eventually they forgot where their salvation came from. What are you letting in your heart? What is taking up real estate in your mind? What is influencing your soul? Where is your strength going?                     Meek is not weak! Moses was described as meek, and no one looks at Moses as feeble or weak. To be meek is to be submissive to the Lord. When we allow the Lord to lead us, we will experience the blessing and favor of our Heavenly Father. The temptation is to take the reigns and call the shots ourselves.
