CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 30:4-6NRSV

APOSTLES' CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

   creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

     He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

     was crucified, died, and was buried;

     he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

     He ascended to heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

     the holy catholic* church,

     the communion of saints,

     the forgiveness of sins,

     the resurrection of the body,

     and the life everlasting. Amen.

HYMN

BY LYNN GARBER

WE GATHER TOGETHER PG. 131

1. We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; he chastens and hastens his will to make known. The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own.

2. Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine; so from the beginning the fight we were winning; thou, Lord, wast at our side, all glory be thine!

3. We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, and pray that thou still our defender wilt be. Let thy congregation escape tribulation; thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

IT'S ME, IT'S ME, O LORD (STANDING IN THE NEED OF PRAYER)

It’s me, it’s me, it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

It’s me, it’s me, it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my brother or my sister, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my brother or my sister, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my preacher or my deacon, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my preacher or my deacon, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my mother or my father, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my mother or my father, but it’s me, O Lord,

Standin’ in the need of prayer.

HYMN-IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

BY LYNN GARBER PG.377

1. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it well with my soul. It is well (It is well) with my soul, (with my soul,) it is well, it is well with my soul.

2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control, that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed his own blood for my soul. It is well (It is well) with my soul, (with my soul,) it is well, it is well with my soul.

3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! It is well (It is well) with my soul, (with my soul,) it is well, it is well with my soul.

4. And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, even so, it is well with my soul. It is well (It is well) with my soul, (with my soul,) it is well, it is well with my soul.
