A Note From Pastor Alan
35 years ago we lost the crew of Space Shuttle Challenger 73 seconds after liftoff. Today, Thursday, we remember Mike Smith, Dick Scobee, Ron McNair, Ellison Onizuka, school teacher Christa McAuliffe, Greg Jarvis, and Judith Resnik.
We were living in Fort Worth at the time going to seminary. My brother was visiting so he could possible apply for a job in the Dallas area. He needed to buy something, so we stopped at mall. As I walked past the Radio Shack looking at the TVs I saw the launch. Then there was the explosion. I stood there in shock and disbelief at what I saw.
Isn't life like that a lot of time. Everything seems to be going your way and suddenly BAM!! it goes wrong. It may a diagnosis, a layoff notice, or hearing of a loved one passing away. You get that pit in your stomach and all can do is say, "Why God?" Don't you care?"
In Mark 4 in the midst of a terrible storm the disciples ask the same thing as their boat is being swamped. "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" Jesus calmed the storm and then helped the disciples grow in their faith through that event.
Whatever storm you are facing just remember that Jesus is in the boat with you. Your faith in Him will get you through it and at the same time you will grow.
I liked this quote from Ronald Reagan: “The future doesn’t belong to the faint-hearted. It belongs to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future, and we’ll continue to follow them.”
Jesus is pulling us into His future and His Kingdom and we'll follow Him.

New Classes Going on Now
Church History Class
This class follows the growth of the church beginning where Acts 28 leaves off. It covers the development of doctrine in response to heresy, spread of the gospel, rise of denominations and various times of persecution. The class meets at 9:00 AM every Sunday at the church. Virtual option is available.
2 Timothy Bible Study
This is a verse by verse study of 2 Timothy using the inductive method of Bible study. If interested, let Pastor Alan know so he can get you the materials/notebook for you. This study meets on Wednesday at 6:00 PM in person or online.
New Study at Your Home
If you are interested in getting together with family and few friends that are COVID free to study the Bible or a topic, just let Pastor Alan know. We can easily lead a study just for you anytime and anywhere.
