What could be the significance difference between reading the bible and studying the Bible? Can the method used in studying the bible be used in reading the Bible?
- Reading is the first step in studying. You can read without studying, but you can't study without reading. Studying means that you take the time to try to deeply understand what the author is saying, which often means consulting Bible dictionaries and commentaries to help you understand cultural references you might have missed.
- I read a book by the name “How to read the Bible for all its worth”. The book seems to be pointing more towards studying the Bible. So, when it comes to the Bible, reading and studying seem to have the same nuances, at least according to the book I mentioned and some teaching and lectures i have come across. I am finding a hard time trying to draw a fine line between studying and reading because every time i prepare a talk on how to read the bible, i end up making a note on how to study the Bible.
