DEVOTION – BE AT EASE
Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:25-26
When I was a young kid, I remember coming home from school and seeing my mother crying and my dad was very angry. I asked my mom what happened and she told me that my dad had lost his job. My parents had 6 kids to feed, so losing a job at the time was not the ideal situation. My mom spent the rest of the night trying, trying to figure out what they would do. I remember her saying “what are we going to do” repeatedly. He would eventually find a job, and things worked
themselves out.
Worrying is a trait that we, as humans, share. We spend forever worrying about things we have no control over and outcomes that may never even happen. Nowhere is that more evident than today. Many are losing their jobs, some fear getting sick and so many of us must adjust to a new life.
As I get older, I realize that fear and worry are just stress that we put on ourselves. Upon reflection, there are so many things that have happened throughout my life that I thought I’d never make it past but I did. The bad moments, the tough times that I had, God brought me through them all. He provided a way for me to overcome them! Instead of focusing on the bad situations in life, we should focus more on the amazing things that God has done for us. Blessing after blessing that has led us to where we are now. Think of a bad moment in your life, your lowest
moment, and now think about how God pulled you through it. No matter what we are going through, God is there. He loves us more than we realize, and sometimes deserve, but we are that important to him. So, don’t spend your time worrying on things we have no control over. Instead, let God handle it. Because he has, and always will provide us with what we need in life. It may not always be what we think it should be, but it is exactly what we need. God knows best. Faith is believing. Worrying about what will happen next, is the opposite. God is in control of our destiny, and that means that I have nothing to worry about. He has never failed us, and He never will. That thought alone, puts my mind at ease.
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not
worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6: 27-34

Worry is an insult to God. We must remember that He has NEVER failed us and His promise says that He will work out ALL things for the Good of those that Love Him and are called according to His purposes. Great job Roger.
