Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” (John 21:22).
Jesus had just given Peter a picture of the way he was going to die. Peter immediately wanted to know what was going to happen to John. Why? Because he was concerned John was going to get something better than him.
Jesus was pretty clear to Peter: God has a plan for each one of us. It is not our place to compare or question God's "fairness." Our job is to do the job the Lord has given us to do.
We are too often like actors who become restricted knowing someone has more lines than they do rather than learning their lines and performing their role the best way.
God doesn't expect me to be like you or you to be like me. He asks us simply to follow Him where He leads. Don't worry about the part that others are given to play. Focus on the part given to you!
