This week in our worship we come into the presence of the Lord in awe of his holiness. When we talk of God being holy, we are expressing two important things about him. First, God is completely above and beyond all of his creation; He is set apart. Secondly, God is absolutely good and morally pure. As we see John's amazing vision of the worship of God in heaven, the creatures around the throne proclaim God to be “Holy, Holy, Holy!” (this is in Revelation 4:8, but see also Isaiah 6:3) Bible commentator Frank E. Gaebelein notes that while a double repetition of this word would have added extra emphasis, “the rare threefold repetition designates the superlative and calls attention to the infinite holiness of God -- the quality of God felt by creatures in his presence as awesomeness or fearfulness.”
This week we desire to come before the Lord with the same sense of his awesome holiness. We will begin by reading together from Revelation 4 and 5, and then respond in worship by singing Holy, Holy, Holy and Revelation Song. We’ll have a special Kids’ Time with Marcia Jarrett, and then Drew Barnes will help us to further encounter this attribute of God with his message “God Is Holy.” Drew’s sermon text this week will be Isaiah 6:1-8. In response to God’s Word we will sing Behold Him, and conclude our services with prayer, Giving, and a Benediction. If you have a prayer request you’d like to share this week, please email it to: prayer@meadowsfamily.org.
Find a few moments to prepare for worship as you prayerfully engage with the Scripture and songs for this week. Make yourself ready to worship our holy and awesome God without reservation, distraction, or pretense. For He is holy and worthy of our worship.
Remember also that attendance is limited at our in-person services right now, so you must register if you’d like to attend. Click here to register: Meadows Christian Fellowship Registration Form.I look forward to worshiping along with you this Sunday!
