Preparing for Worship - November 8, 2020
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
As we gather in our homes for worship this week, we are reminded of Christ’s promise that “where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20) As followers of Christ, we make it a priority to gather in His name each Sunday, for in so doing, we are truly beginning every week with Him! Even when we must worship by live stream, as we are this week, we cling to this promise of Jesus, knowing that He will be present with us and among us in our worship. With this in mind, we’ll start our service with Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 3:14-21, which reminds us of God’s desire that Christ dwell in our hearts and that we would truly know His love. These words of Scripture invite us into the Lord’s presence, and we will respond together in prayer and in song with O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus. With Christ surely present among us, we will hear his words to us in John 15:1-16. This call from our loving Savior to abide in Him will prompt us to respond in praise of Our Great Savior.
Pastor Andrew continues our Become Like Jesus sermon series this week with a message entitled, “Like Jesus, Disciples Build Deep, Authentic, and Affirming Relationships.” His message will draw from the story of David and Jonathan found in 1 Samuel 18-20, and will explore how this godly relationship exemplifies Christ's call to "love one another as I have loved you." Our response together in song is to proclaim You Never Let Go. We’ll wrap up our time together by praying for our Giving, and be sent out into our week with a Benediction. As always, please share any prayer requests you may have by sending them to: email@example.com.
Will you make yourself ready to worship together in the presence of Christ? Prepare for worship this Sunday by finding a few quiet moments to prayerfully reflect on the Scripture texts and songs above. Also, please be praying for the health of our fellowship, both physically and spiritually.
I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!
