“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!”
- Luke 24:5-6 NIV
It is spectacular to watch the night turn into morning. On the first morning in
July, I remember jogging and watch the sun crest the mountains and paint the sky with beautiful shades of red and pink over the harvested farmland here in Bridgewater. It was a sign of welcome for me in my coming to Bridgewater!
The sun does more for us than provide for us an artistic expression that touches us. Spending time outside in natural sunlight offers numerous health benefits, such as reducing the possibility of many diseases, improving our sleep, and assisting our mental health. The sun plays an essential part in our life. However, the Son of God is even more important.
On that first Easter, the Women who followed Jesus went to the tomb during the darkness of the early morning. There they found the surprise of an empty tomb and realized that Jesus has risen from the dead! The Son has risen, defeating sin and death. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead means we can have everlasting life, God. Easter is a time for celebrating all God has done on our behave when
darkness has been driven away by the light.
I believe it is essential to take time this Easter and celebrate God in saving us from sin and death. Let us observe how Jesus, the Son of God, has come into the world as our light and changed our lives forever. Let us celebrate this April as we remember God has driven out the darkness, and the light shines through. Jesus has Risen!
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you sent Jesus on our behalf to light the way and drive out the darkness. Help us to celebrate your great victory, Lord, over death and sin. We adore you and praise your Holy Name, One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
