1 Peter 1:22 | The Purifying Power of Truth & Love
In this sermon we consider the Biblical reality that as we submit to God's truth in obedient faith, we're granted a clear conscience and are able to walk in genuine Christian love. This doesn't mean we earn salvation by our works, but that as we trust and obey the Gospel which tells us that our guilt has been removed by the blood of Jesus Christ, & calls us to take up our cross & follow Him, we experience the wonderful freedom of a purified conscience... & thus we can love as Christ loved us.

- In this sermon we consider the Biblical reality that as we submit to God's truth in obedient faith, we're granted a clear conscience, and are able to walk in genuine Christian love towards God & His People. This doesn't mean we can ever earn salvation by our works... but that as we trust and obey the Gospel of Grace, which tells us that our guilt has been removed by the blood of Jesus Christ, & calls us to take up our cross & follow Him, we experience the wonderful freedom of a purified conscience. This cleansed and purified conscience enables us to love God & one another as Christ loved us. So long as our consciences are held captive by sin and doubt, we cannot walk in the truth and love as we ought... but praise be to God that in Christ there is Grace sufficient for all who confess, repent, believe, and walk in the truth & love of the Gospel. It is as the hymn writer put so well - "Trust & obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust & obey."
