Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy, for you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (James 1:2–4).
God does not send bad things into our lives. However, He will use them (if we trust HIm) to deepen us. We view the hard times of life as opportunities to grow in our faith, leading to deeper joy. But this is a mindset we must choose! In hard times we can walk away, or we can grow in faith.
We are not told to be joyful FOR the troubles . . . we are to choose to rejoice IN the trials. We rejoice because God will see us through, make us strong, and lead us home. He will right the wrongs and heal the wounds. The choice is ours . . . will the trials destroy you or deepen you?
