Colossians 3:16 CSB "Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
The Apostle Paul reminds the Colossians' Christians that worshipping the God of the Bible requires different dress from idol worship. Consider the false gods we worshiped before Jesus forgave, saved, and now is sanctifying us. Immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed are a few idols we used to serve (Colossians 3:5). Remember when we dressed to worship the world's idols in anger, wrath, malice, slander, abusive speech, and lies as acts of worship to the world's gods (Colossians 3:8).
Monday is an excellent day to throw away those old outfits and dress for our new life. Paul says we are to put on the new self who is being renewed to a proper knowledge according to the image of Christ (Colossians 3:10). Those chosen by God dress differently.
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me that I am chosen of God, saved to live holy and beloved before God the Father (Colossians 3:12). Holy Spirit, help me renew my worship practices today. I will replace anger, slander, ill will, and abusive speech will new acts of worship. Help me dress appropriately, putting on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing burdens of fellow believers, and forgiving them, just as Jesus forgave me (Colossians 3:12–13).
Lord, I will intentionally put on love, the perfect bond of unity beyond all things (3:14). Lord Jesus, you died and were raised so believers can worship in harmony. I will begin my week with a new worship wardrobe. Lord God, let the word of Christ dwell richly among us, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in our hearts (3:16).
Thank you, Jesus. Dressed for worship whatever I do today, I will do all in the name of my Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father (3:17). Thank you, Lord, for choosing me to live holy and help restore worship wherever I go this week. In Jesus' name, amen.
