At Immanuel, all of our students from the youngest to the oldest engage in ongoing service projects. Our preschoolers have been collecting nonperishable items for the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, and during chapel this week they thanked God for all that He gives us while they placed them in a grocery cart. The cart was overflowing!
Will you be at Batavia Park District's Festival of Lights on November 28th between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.? If so, look for our trees along Christmas Tree Lane. It's become an Immanuel tradition for our students in grades K - 8 to decorate a tree each year, and this year our volleyball teams decorated one, as well. The K-8 students' tree is #8, and the volleyball teams' tree is #16. You can vote for the People's Choice Award by liking the picture of your favorite tree here by noon on November 28th.
As we get ready to enjoy our Thanksgiving holiday, I find myself reflecting upon the many people here at Immanuel for whom I am thankful. I am so thankful for our students; they bring me joy every day. I feel privileged to be a part of their education and their faith development. I am thankful for our dedicated teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff. They are a blessing to our students and their families. I am thankful for our volunteers in the library, in classrooms, in the office, on our sports teams, and in all kinds of weather for drop-off and pick-up times. They give so generously of their time and talents. I am thankful for the many generous donors who support our school ministry financially so that we can provide an outstanding Christian education to all of our Immanuel students. I am thankful for our pastors and our ministry team; it is a joy to do the Lord's work with them. Most of all, I am thankful for our Savior, who offers grace and forgiveness that gives me hope. He is the reason we are here. I pray that there is a place for Him in your Thanksgiving celebration this year.
