For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. (ESV)
Thought for Today
New Year’s is a time to reflect on time. Solomon reminds us that there is a season for matter under heaven. As the calendar changes what season have you gone through in the past year? Was it a season of growth or struggle? No matter which answer you give you will find that it was a year of God’s blessing. The blessings are easier to see in some seasons than others, but if you take the time to look you will find that it was there. Take a moment to reflect on the blessings of the year gone by. What season are you entering? Is there ease or challenge on the horizon? What blessings can you anticipate in 2022? Take a few moments to talk to God about the year to come and let Him know that no matter what comes you will trust Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the year gone by and all the ways you provided for me. Help me to look forward with hope in the year to come; knowing that no matter what happens You will be with me. Amen.
Devotional Quote
The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes. Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions, he would make no resolutions. Unless a man starts afresh about things, he will certainly do nothing effective.” ― G.K. Chesterton
Quote of the Day
And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been. — Rainer Maria Rilke
