A Veneer Faith 1-14-22
“Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. But he does not hesitate to punish and destroy those who reject him.” (Deuteronomy 7:9-10)
Our view of God must expand. We are sometimes guilty of acting like we can fool God. We say the right things and attend all the right gatherings and then go and do what WE please. God is not amused by a faith that is just veneer.
God calls us to follow Him. God will keep His promises; both the promise to bless and the promise to punish if we ignore HIm. He is more consistent than a good parent because He sees clearly. He sees our heart, He sees us in the secret places, He is with us even when we are with our friends or in private.
Let us redouble our determination to throw off the sin that entangles us and serve Him with focus and devotion. Let's stop making excuses and give Him first place in our lives, the place He deserves.
