This week was a special one for our 7th and 8th grades. They traveled to Washington, D.C., for four days packed with learning at the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the National Cathedral, the Museum of the Bible, the Smithsonian, and various monuments and memorials. We thank God for this opportunity, for the memories were made, and for His protection over students while they were away from their families. Everyone came back tired, which is a good sign that everyone had fun and learned a ton!
Our preschoolers were aflutter with excitement this week when their painted lady butterflies emerged from their chrysalises. They had so much fun feeding the caterpillars nectar from fruit and flowers and watching them transform throughout their life cycle. They learned the difference between chrysalises and cocoons: chrysalises are for butterflies and cocoons are for moths. They also learned scientific words like proboscis, pupa, metamorphosis, and meconium. Today the preschoolers were in awe when they got to see the very moment that a butterfly emerged from its chrysalis. One child exclaimed, "That's God's power!"
