- Then how come it always says “fear not” when He shows up? I like the translation of fear as awesome reverence, sometimes I think I take it too casually. Psalm 19:9 says “The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all are righteous.” And 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” So, I think as long as we are trying to obey his commands and loving people as he loves us, we have nothing to fear but fear itself (I didn’t make that up).
