Kingdom women (and men!), I want to encourage and challenge you to be in PRAYER for the “kids” of our congregation as they enter into another school year. Whether that be daycare, preschool, home school, elementary, junior high, high school, or college and higher education.
We MUST remember to pray for the younger people of our body of Christ. We must remember the significant impact they have in the schools as they are shining lights in the darkness. We MUST remember that the enemy doesn’t care about their age, but cares about their souls and wants to steal, kill, and destroy those who pose threats against his power. We must remember that these kids are the future, and we must be praying for the stability of the future to be founded on God’s truths and not things that are being taught or heard elsewhere. We must recognize the battle that these kids step into each day. A battle that rages for lost souls, for questioning souls, and for souls who have turned away. These kids ARE lights in the darkness. And while we know that they do not fight this battle alone, we must be lifting them up in prayer and surrounding them with encouragement.
I ask that if you are reading this, that you set a daily reminder to be praying for these kids. There are so many in our congregation that sit among us each week! I ask that you consider specifically and intentionally praying over them- ask them their names, and what they are learning in school. Ask them their interests and what they get excited about. Ask them what attribute of God is one that resonates with them right now, and if they are stumped, encourage them with one that resonates with you.
I ask that if you are reading this, to text others that you know and remind them the importance of praying for the “kids” of our church body. Reach out, get to know, befriend, mentor, come alongside, just SEE the kids of our congregation and understand the importance that it is that these kids feel known and VALUED in our church. That they are known by name just like how God knows them uniquely and individually.
That’s it. That’s all I have this week. Know them, see them, love them, and PRAY for them!
