Of all the words ever written in all the books ever printed there is nothing that compares to the word of God given to us sacred Scripture. And yet, so many treat the Bible as though it were nothing more than a religious book written by nothing more than religious men. However, in Hebrews 4:12-13, the writer confronts us with the truth about God’s Word and why it matters for every single soul. See you Sunday!
The Ferreiro Family: Welcome baby Gio!
On Tuesday, The Ferreiro family welcomed the newest addition to their family; Giovanni Lee! We are full of rejoicing and so thankful to God for His grace to Erica and the rest of the family and are eager to serve them well. A huge thanks to everyone who was faithfully checking in and praying. We have started a Meal Train for them and you can sign up here: https://mealtrain.com/zo867e
Community Groups: Sola Scripture
This week in our community groups we continued our series through ‘What is Reformed Theology?’. We examined what is often called the formal principle of the Protestant Reformation; Sola Scriptura (latin for ’Scripture Alone’). Contrary to the Roman Catholic view that Scripture as well as tradition were equally authoritative and divine, the reformers maintained that Scripture is the only authoritative written source of divine revelation. We looked at the infallibility, inerrancy and perspicuity (clarity) of Scripture. As always the discussion and fellowship were such a blessing. Mid-week Study: Baptism
On Wednesday night, we studied Question 44 in the New City Catechism, ‘What is Baptism?’. When it comes to baptism there has been no shortage of controversy within Protestantism over the centuries. What is not debated is that Jesus has commanded it, that it is a sign of our being cleansed from sin, our union with Christ and our belonging to His Church. Most of the debates center around the procedure of baptism. Since the Reformation there have been two main approaches: Covenantal Paedobaptism, and Credobaptism. Next week we hope to flesh these out a little more as we examine the next question, "Is baptism with water the washing away of sin itself?” We hope to see you there.
