Jesus is our all in all. The refrain thus fas has been "Jesus is better!" He is the King of Kings, The Lord of lords and He is also our great High Priest. On Sunday, we embark on a new chapter as we look at Hebrews 5:1-6 where the writer begins to elaborate on the priesthood of Christ. Prepare your hearts by reading the text and praying for one another and anticipating the gathering of the redeemed!
Community Groups: Sola Fide / Faith Alone
This week in our community groups we continued our study through ‘What is Reformed Theology?’ and began to consider the doctrine of ‘sola fide' or 'faith alone’. Luther contended that this doctrine was the article upon which The Church would stand or fall. This is because it is at the very heart of the gospel itself. Rome also said that faith was necessary to salvation but the controversy was around that five letter little word “alone”. The reformers maintained that faith is "the alone instrument" that receives the gift of salvation, not the sacraments or anything else but faith alone. Next time we will look at part 2 of this foundational doctrine. We hope you are able to join us.
Mid-week Study: The Lord’s Supper
On Wednesday we were so encouraged to consider the blessing God has given us in The Lord’s Supper. The point of the Supper, as well as Baptism, is to put our eyes on Jesus not ourselves. The Lord’s Supper reminds us and declares to us what Jesus has done for us in His atoning work on the cross. Next week we will continue to examine The Supper as we ask, "Does the Lord’s Supper add anything to Christ’s atoning work?”. We hope you are able to join us next Wednesday at 7pm at the Art Center.
Thanksgiving Meal: This Sunday Evening!
This Sunday , Nov. 20th, is our annual Thanksgiving Meal and we can’t wait. It will be at 5:30pm at the Arts Center; the same place we have our service in the morning. We will be arriving at 4pm to move chairs, set up tables etc. and any help is welcome and appreciated.
