New Testament Blitz
December 6th: 2 Corinthians 10-13
Paul defends his ministry today. Don’t miss the sarcastic tones in today’s reading. After taking in the whole account of Paul’s message, what is the thorn in his flesh? It might not be the obvious.
- There has been a lot of debate over that question re: Paul’s thorn in the flesh. I have always felt it was his eyesight being poor since he wrote about how big his letters were as he was writing and once he talked about actually signing off on a letter in his own hand after what I assumed was a scribe who was writing the letter for him. But whatever it was, the important part is that it didn’t pull him down. He wrote that God’s power would rest on him. And that when he was weak, “then I am strong.” How many of us can say that? I tend to be a whiner instead of saying— “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” We need to hold onto that power and claim it daily “so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
- If it wasn’t his poor eye sight, what might it be, according to the reading from 2 Corinthians?
