This is the type of knowledge that is information known but not experienced. Through studying, we obtain a reservoir of knowledge that is contained within the mind that dictates how we consider things and manage our lifestyle. This type of knowledge, when used properly, will directly influence our experiential learning.
For what man intuitively knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, the one in him… 1 Corinthians 2:11
When it comes to the Christian life, it is important to have a good basin of truth from which we are able to pull knowledge in understanding Scripture and how we are to live out the desirous will of God.
We have been freed from our sin nature, but unless we understand this within our minds, we will not be able to take advantage of it. We intuitively know that to whatever desires we submit, we become a slave to those desires (Romans 6:16). We also intuitively know that the law of God is logical (Romans 7:14) and that through the law comes the knowledge that we have a sin nature (Romans 7:7). However, the law gives the sin nature strength (1 Corinthians 15:56). When it comes to having victory over our sin nature, it starts within the mind and this reservoir of truth. Since Christ’s death for sin and resurrection has been imputed to us, God sees us as ones who are raised from the dead to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4-5). This new life renders the sin nature ineffective (Romans 6:6). We need to count this to be true and impute it to ourselves (Romans 6:11). The result of imputing this truth should then be to yield our members to righteousness (Romans 6:13). This is how we overcome the desires of the flesh, living out the desires from the Spirit (Galatians 5:17-18).
One of the aspects of our relationship with the Holy Spirit is that He intercedes on our behalf with groans that cannot be uttered because He searches our heart and therefore intuitively knows what is on our mind (Romans 8:27). In addition, since we now have a relationship with the Holy Spirit within our spirit, He teaches us how to abide in Christ (1 John 2:20) based upon the truth we know (1 John 2:21) through the desires we have to do what is right. Therefore, we should always be seeking to know more truth and grow in our understanding.
The knowledge that we are the Holy of Holies (1 Corinthians 3:16), should impact every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to being involved with the works of the flesh and being unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship does light have with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14)?
Based upon the reality that Christ did come, and righteousness is through faith in Christ, we intuitively know that no human can be justified before God through works of law (Galatians 2:16). God freed those under the law, and we have not received a Spirit of bondage (Romans 8:15), but of son placement (a place of maturity). We are not to put ourselves under law (Galatians 3:12), but to live out from faith (Romans 1:17).
Therefore, let us build up this reservoir of truth within our minds by reading and understanding Scripture while using a proper hermeneutics so that we grow in our understanding, coming to a oneness of the faith, unto a full experiential knowledge of the Son of God while living a life that measures up to who we are in Christ based upon the truth.
