And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Thought for Today
Jesus tells us that if we abide in Him, as the branch abides in the vine, we will bear fruit. What does this fruit look like? Is it worth bearing? Paul tells us about the fruit of righteousness. First, he tells us our love will abound more and more when we are connected to Jesus. Who doesn’t want to be more loving? Jesus said that love would be the hallmark of His kingdom. “They will know you are my disciples if you love one another” (Jn. 13:35). When we are connected to, and empowered by Christ, we discover how much we are loved. God literally loves you to death! As our hearts open to the love of God it becomes our naturel response to share it with others. We think of ourselves less and see the needs of others more. We become more compassionate and caring. This sounds like a fruit worth bearing to me!
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to become more like You, loving everyone around me in increasing measure. Amen.
