Children’s Ministry
Dear Church Family,
As I mentioned at the Church Life Gathering in January, Maggie Carr will be stepping down as our Children’s Coordinator this summer in order to focus more of her time on raising support for her family’s move to Romania. She and I have worked together over the past 3+ months to interview candidates for the soon-to-be vacant position. To say that it is has been a joy to meet with the women who have applied for this job would be an understatement. And to say that it has been difficult to choose between them would also be an understatement. Every single lady who applied is exceptionally gifted and could do a tremendous job coordinating our children’s ministry. However, I could only offer the job to one, and so it is with great pleasure that I get to tell you that Raven Brett will be taking over as children’s coordinator starting in July. After many hours of interviews, discussion, and prayer, it is clear to the elders that Raven is the person that we need for this job now.
Raven will begin training immediately and will work closely with Maggie through June to make sure our Vacation Bible School goes well, and then she will take over completely in July. Please pray for Ben and Raven and their kids as Raven prepares to take on some more formal responsibilities at the church and makes the transition into this role. And let us thank God together our two previous children’s coordinators (Teresa Collins and Maggie Carr). I thank God for all who have prayed for this situation; I believe God has heard your prayers and answered in a clear and powerful way.
Please be on the lookout for details regarding a celebratory feast this summer that will enable us to give thanks for the gifts God has given us in our ministry to our children as we mark the transition between these two wonderful women. There are many great things happening among us, and I’m excited for us to see with increasing clarity what God is doing in us, for us, and through us. As we sang on Sunday from Psalm 23: Our shepherd will supply our need. He has done so, and I am convinced he will continue to do so.
Rejoicing with you,
Pastor Sam
