- IntroI think I am having a wife joke. Women are so precious and they ought to be precious to their husbands and to the congregation. For women are precious to God:
Genesis 1:27 NIV So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.PrayerHe didn’t just create man in his image but both in his image. The whole needing a leader in the family thing came about after we broke everything with sin. Before that, they were co-equal stewards of God’s creation. And now we are co-equal recipients of God’s salvation, for we are both created by God, we both have worth and are both full of the Holy Spirit. To show this, lets go to one of the verses from last week, 1 cor 11:11-12.Created by GodA. Equal in the Kingdom1 Corinthians 11:11–12 NIV Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.1. Different toolsa. they were arguing about womenb. Paul said knock if off you are no betterc. Look how you act out for communion2. Different waysa. Women bring their own strengthsb. Women though different ought to be cherishedc. Just like we talked about yesterday, women and men are differenti. Meant to complement each otherii. What a woman is designed and created for is special1 Corinthians 12:15–17 NIV Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?B. Created to Worship1. God alonea. not their husbands, sorry fellasb. But through her love for God she loves othersi. First two commands Jesus gave2. To bring your sparka. You’re own flareJohn 4:24 NIV God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”b. God warns about quenching the Spirit1 Thessalonians 5:19 NIV Do not quench the Spirit.c. Be free to worship in your own wayi. Jesus set us freeYou are WorthyA. You have Worth1. Don’t search the worlda. They only seek their own benefitb. To be used and throw awayJohn 8:3–11 NIV The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”c. Man’s Ideai. To be usedii. Didn’t cared. Objectify womeni. appearanceii. Satan’s liesiii. ThoughtsDon’t let people define you, only let God define you. You spend 2 - 2.5 hours a day on social media, but how much time do we spend in the Word of God. It is easy to get distracted from what God says.2. God’s IdeaPsalm 139:14 NIV I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.a. Fearfully and wonderfully madei. God defines your worthii. His love is deep and wide for youiii. Nothing can separate youb. Find the perfection of God in your flawsTalked about this, this week with someone. Paul said:2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.3. Let God’s word define youPsalm 46:5 NIV God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.a. Made in the image of Godb. You were made on purpose for a purposec. Let the Spirit Guide your daysFull of the Holy SpiritActs 2:4 NIV All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.A. Salvation is Equal1. Everyone’s is the same1 Peter 3:18 NIV For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.a. We are all equal in sinb. Therefore we are equal in salvation2. God is not a respecter of personsa. Treats all as his childrenb. You are a child of Godi. Either saved or lost3. We all possess the Holy Spirita. That’s what convicts usb. That’s what defines usGalatians 5:13–18 NIV You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.c. If we walk in the Spiriti. Spirit will define youii. You will understand what it isiii. This is a choice you must makeConclusion:Gal 5 sums it all up. You can either walk by the flesh and be defined by the flesh, which will never satisfy and will always ask for more, or you can walk in the Spirit and be defined by the Spirit which brings freedom and contentment, which reminds you that you are created by God in His image, worthy and loved by the creation. The Spirit reminds you of your worth in Christ, that you were created on purpose and for a purpose. Finally, remember, that when you aren’t feeling it and when you don’t understand it, you are full of the Holy Spirit, which you can call upon to help you, lift you and remind you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
