Prayer Closet Thoughts
Hannah’s prayer was so heartfelt that it seemed to the local religious leader that she was drunk. She was weeping so hard before the Lord that no words were coming out of her mouth. She did not pray with fancy words, because words couldn’t even come out of her mouth. She sat ugly-crying before God, baring her heart’s desire to him. Prayer doesn’t have to be done with fancy words or clever sayings. Prayer is allowing your heart’s desire to be heard by God. God hears our hearts and wants us to be honest with him. He wants us to pray what we feel and believe. Talk with God like you talk with others. Sometimes that means when our heart is heavy, we will be ugly-crying before God. And the great thing is that he hears, and doesn’t mind, our ugly-crying—even when the words won’t come out.
“Not so, my Lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled…I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. 1 Samuel 1:15

The Christian And Conscience
So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man. Acts 24:16
One of the ways God has revealed Himself to us is the conscience. Conscience has been described as the light of the soul. Even when it is dulled or darkened by sin, it can still bear witness to the reality of good and evil, and to the holiness of God. What causes this warning light to go on inside me when I do wrong?
Conscience can be our gentlest counselor and teacher, our most faithful friend, and sometimes our worst enemy when we sin. There are no punishments or rewards on this earth comparable to those of the conscience. The Scripture says, “Man’s conscience is the lamp of the eternal” (Proverbs 20:27). In other words, conscience is God’s lamp within man’s breast. In his Critique of Pure Reason, Immanuel Kant said there were just two things that filled him with awe—the starry heavens and conscience in the breast of man.
The conscience in its varying degrees of sensitivity bears a witness to God. Its very existence within us is a reflection of God in the soul of man. Without conscience we would be like rudderless ships at sea and like guided missiles without a guidance system.
George Bernard Shaw, the great Irish novelist, said, “Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world.” And Benjamin Franklin rhymed, “Keep conscience clear, then never fear.” If conscience is so vital a concept to these worldly writers, how much more concerned should I as a Christian be that my conscience is “clear before God and man”? And our conscience can be purified as we allow God’s Word, the Bible, to clean and enlighten them.

Knowing God’s Will
Ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives. Colossians 1:9
Do you find that knowing God’s will feels like a constant struggle? Do you weigh the pros and cons of your decisions, look for signs of His direction, but then continue to wonder if you’re truly making choices that honor Him?
Friend, understanding God’s will for your life is not as ambiguous as you may think. The Lord wants you to obey Him—He eagerly seeks to direct your path. So when you’re walking with Him, He provides the wisdom you need for every step.
But how do you ensure you’re staying in close fellowship with the Father? First, give yourself to Him completely, understanding that you are His beloved child and He would never steer you wrong. Second, refuse to be conformed to the world’s standards or follow its strategies to achieve your goals. Third, be transformed by allowing the Holy Spirit to change the way you think.
Finally, trust that the God who saved you is able to teach you the way you should go. He will not fail you, friend. Trust Him.
Lord, speak to me strongly by Your Spirit. Teach me Your will that I may walk in Your ways, amen.

Inspirational Thoughts
There is nothing but God’s grace. We walk upon it; we breathe it; we live and die by it; it makes the nails and axles of the universe.
Robert Louis Stevenson
If God is present at every point in space, if we cannot go where He is not, cannot even conceive of a place where He is not, why then has not that Presence become the one unanswerably celebrated fact of the world? People do not know if God is here. What a difference it would make if they knew.
A. W. Tozer
Look at the stars. The most universally awesome experience that mankind knows is to stand alone on a clear night and look at the stars. It was God who first set the stars in space; He is their Make and Master—they are all in His hands and subject to His will. Such are His power and His majesty. Behold your God!
J. I. Packer
