- Questions for reflection based on Jesus’ call to prayer and practice of the golden rule from Matthew 7:7-12. Is it amazing to you that God hears and answers our prayers? If God hears our prayer, why is it important to pray persistently and continually? Why does He want us to pray more than once for our needs? What is expectant prayer? What could you begin praying for this week that God would change in your life? How bold are your prayers? Are you praying for things you can accomplish on your own or needs that require God’s provision? How does the golden rule (treat others the way you want them to treat you) flow out of how God has treated you? Are you living by the golden rule? Are you treating others as you would want them to treat you? Are we loving our neighbor as ourselves? Jesus said: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” Matthew 22:37-40. “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.” John 15:7 “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 “For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14 Disciples of Jesus, Arrange their lives to be with Jesus. Intentionally pursue the character of Jesus. Increasingly love what Jesus loves. Are committed to the mission of Jesus because of their devotion to Jesus.
