SCFC Weekly Connection
THIS SUNDAY
Join us this Sunday, Mother's Day, for a special message from Lisa Garon titled "P.R.A.Y. like Hannah". We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:30am or on our livestream by clicking here.
LAST WEEK'S MESSAGE
When things don’t go as planned, DON’T BLAME GOD (OR ANYBODY ELSE). Don’t look for someone to criticize. Don’t resort to accusation and condemnation, because it's a complete waste of time. Instead BELIEVE GOD WILL and then move forward by faith because we can rely on God's promises.
Why Did Jesus Get So Angry?
Anger captivates our emotions in times of triggered passion which seem to overwhelm our very soul. The righteous anger of Jesus was expressed because he was taking something back that belonged to him in the first place. In this episode learn why and how you ought to fight with this same level of purpose and zeal Jesus did when he used a whip to overthrow the money changer tables in the temple. Journey together with Pastor Bob to explore how to intentionally follow Jesus better. https://youtu.be/B1Le70AzMQQ
COME FOR THE PEOPLE
THIS FRIDAY is our Community Movie Night on May 6th at 5:30pm at Sherwood Community Friends Church and we invite YOU.
Our movie night is not about the tacos and not about the movie.
If you're like me (Pastor Bob Garon), maybe events aren't your thing. In fact, much of the time throughout an event I'm at, I'm watching the clock to see when it's over so I can go home. Over the years the Lord and I have had conversations to help change my perspective for events and he has answered that prayer.
What he did was help me see the event for what it is- opportunity. Movie night is not about the entertainment or food, but about the people who come. I encourage you to adopt the perspective of coming for the people. Come to have conversation. Intentional be looking for an opportunity to talk with someone for the sole purpose of getting to know them, encouraging them, and hopefully even share the gospel with them. Is that scary to you? It can be for me too, but remember what Jesus said: "I am with you always (Matthew 28:20)" and "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you (John 14:26)."
You don't need to think about what to say. Jesus is with you and the Holy Spirit will give you exactly what you need to say. All you do is trust.
So I hope to see you on Friday for our Community Movie Night. You can bring your friends, your family, and anyone from your neighborhood for a…
FREE taco dinner and a movie together. We’ll be watching Disney’s Encanto. (Mexican and Colombian decorations and people in costume)
👉We’re gonna have some fun and give away Chipotle gift cards. All you have to do is show up.

Serve
As followers of Jesus, we want to do what Jesus did. This means we are to actively demonstrate self-sacrificial love by serving the people around us and setting aside our own personal desires or preferences. It takes a lot of volunteers to sustain our weekly routines at Sherwood Community Friends Church. As a family, we ask everyone to please all pitch in.
Give
We are partners with Jesus to serve our Sherwood community and want to be a church marked by radical generosity for God's Kingdom work. Ten percent of every dollar that comes in to SCFC goes directly to supporting Northwest Yearly Meeting to come alongside what they do both locally and globally. Help us help more people find and follow Jesus.
