Biblical Eyeglass: At the Movies

The Biblical Eyeglass: At the Movies is a program designed to help teenagers to Biblically process the messages and values that are presented to them in movies and TV shows. Entertainment is often an area that is hard to surrender to the Lord, because it’s one of our places of pleasure and relaxation. But movies are also full of values, truth claims, assumptions, and principles that are sometimes unbiblical. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” That’s what we would like to help our teens do. They shouldn’t simply consume movies, they should scrutinize them and seek to understand and evaluate in light of the truth – the Word of God! This program is a 2-day workshop and essay contest for teens 8th-12th grade, culminating in an ending awards ceremony. Dinner is provided for the teens on Friday evening. Any questions can be directed to Kayla Dunston at bornsinger@gmail.com .
