THE PROMISE OF HIS RETURN

God’s Awesome Promises to You (Sermon 3 of 7)

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (NKJV)

Matthew 24:27

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  (NIV)

Acts 1:9-11

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." (NKJV)

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18                                                                                                                               13 I want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

14  For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

15  We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.

16  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.

17  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.

18  So encourage each other with these words(NLT2)

1 Corinthians 15:51-53

But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 15:51-52

We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  (NIV)

John 14:3

If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (KJV)

Matthew 25:13

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.  (KJV)

2 Corinthians 5:8

We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. (NKJV)

Matthew 24:43-44

If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.  (NIV)

Be Ready When He Comes!
